Chasing the Ultimate Side Quest: A Selfie with Boogie T
Share
One of my longest-running side quests is still incomplete: getting a selfie with Boogie T! This journey began thanks to Drew, a festival wizard of sorts (you can usually find him at the Groundscore merch booth). It all started at EDC Las Vegas one morning after an all-nighter with friends. During a random side quest to find three dice for a game of street dice, Drew generously gifted us dice from his bracelet to help us complete that task. But along with those dice, he handed us this ultimate quest.
Since then, I’ve met countless people who bear an uncanny resemblance to Boogie T, and taking selfies with these “look-alikes” has become part of the adventure. Just recently, at Cyclops Cove, I met another doppelgänger, which even led to a new friendship. While the real Boogie T selfie remains elusive, I look forward to finally completing this quest in 2025.
Favorite Festival of the Year: Lost Lands 2024
Picking a favorite festival is no easy task because each one offers its own unique magic. However, if I had to choose, Lost Lands 2024 takes the crown. What sets it apart for me is the perfect combination of the stunning venue, the amazing people I met, and the overall experience.
Lost Lands left me with zero complaints. I felt safe the entire time and was surrounded by some of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. The production value was phenomenal, and there was always something exciting to do. From jaw-dropping sets to unforgettable vibes, this festival had it all. I even made lifelong friends who have continued to join me on adventures since. It’s hard to top an experience like this!
Favorite Festival Moment: Magical Morning at Lost Lands
Unsurprisingly, my favorite festival moment this year also happened at Lost Lands. Let me paint the scene: it was early Sunday morning, somewhere between 4 a.m. and 11 a.m., after a night filled with incredible sets. A group of us—two friends from my rave fam, a camp neighbor, and a friend we’d met at Electric Forest—decided to head over to the silent disco. None of us knew that this morning would turn into something truly magical.
We found ourselves sitting on a cozy "coochie couch" and started sending our new camp friend on playful little side quests. To our delight, he excelled at each mission with effortless charm. Then, out of nowhere, the real magic happened: a live orchestra appeared and began performing EDM hits using only traditional instruments. The fusion of electronic beats and classical music was absolutely enchanting.
We met and connected with some of the most fascinating people that morning. Sure, we were exhausted the next day from the lack of sleep, but I have no regrets. Moments like this define the essence of festival magic.
A Quote to Remember
I’ll leave you with a piece of wisdom we heard from a wise man that unforgettable morning: \n\n> "In order to see the magic, you must first hear the magic. Listen to the birds chirping, to the sounds of the wind. Only then will you truly be connected."\n\nSometimes, the most profound moments are found in the smallest details.
